2000 Chevrolet Silverado LS. I’ve replaced the tailgate handle/latch once with an aftermarket replacement. The aftermarket handle was plastic and has broken. Is the oRM handle plastic? Does anyone make a metal replacement handle?

At least on my 2003, the OE one was metal and made in the USA and very affordable. I did have to take the latches and striker posts out and adjust them to get everything to work smoothly.

I was able to find a metal one that was affordable. TruBuilt1 Automotive (through Amazon). About 2/3 of the price through Amazon than ordering directly from the company. I replaced the latches already.
my 03 was plastic. I see broken ones constantly on the road. just go oem
