I have the LNF in my 09 Cobalt SS Turbocharged. GM says to use an oil that meets GM4718M and I checked GM's list of approved oils. Mostly synthetic 5W-30 and 10W-30, except for Castrol Syntec which didn't even make the list.

Mobil 1 had several oils that met the spec: 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, and 10W-30.

I went with Mobil 1 0W-30 and wanted to know if this was a suitable choice for a turbocharged engine? I thought about using Mobil 1 5W-40 or some other synthetic xW-40/xW-50 for better protection due to the turbocharger (BW K04, 20 psi stock), but I wanted to consult BITOG first.

This engine is also used in the Opel GT, Fisker Karmer, Solstice GXP, and Sky Red Line.

Sounds like a good choice to me. A buddy of mine has an '08 SS Turbo that he runs M1 5W-30 in, and drives it hard. Engine is quiet and smooth (and freakin' fast!!!)

Hmmm, been running the Alisyn 0W-20 in my 400 hp Evo for about 50,000 miles now...The turbo spools nice and quick with that stuff.

From the UOAs I've seen, the 0W-30 seems better than the 5W-30. Good choice.

I haven't been able to find out what the GM4718M spec actually requires. There's an Amsoil site that says it's related to high temperature deposit formation and volatility, FWIW.

I have the same engine in my 08' HHR SS and I have the Stage 1 kit and other mods putting out over 300hp. The cap says Mobil 1 but I know that doesn't mean anything but who paid the most to get their name on there, so I have been using Pennzoil Ultra 5W30 but I am interested to hear if the 0W would be a better choice, thoughts?
