I'm not a redneck, myself. Rednecks don't come from the midwest[1]. I never even opened the hood of a car till I was 18 (which is, incidentally, when I got my first one).

[1]according to a review on imdb.com which states that Larry the Cable Guy is a fake redneck because he's from Nebraska.

Hey Rickey,

My pop's '74 K5 Blazer has about 350k now...
Uncle's '56 T-bird, about the same I think.
My '87 Maxima, 150k.
My wife's 96 RAV4, 140k.

All good.
Greasy myself on the weekends.
During the week, it's entertainment and the music industry.
Computers and studios...

That's interesting. One of my friends had an old 1965 Buick something-or-other for sale which had belonged to his father-in-law who had recently passed away. I looked the odometer which read 65,xxx and asked, "Does it have 165,000 on it?". He looked surprised and said, "No, cars didn't last that long back then".

So what, really, was the typical lifespan in miles of a 50s,60s, or 70s vehicle?

I think it was the first all-time four-wheel drive truck (non-commercial or mil)
That was way cool - the downside? My pops traded a '72 442 Olds (I believe it was a Hurst too)
It was sad, but my dad was a geophysicist, and he/we used it for many field-trips over the years.

I was sad when hi finally sold it, but upkeep got really expensive, and even a new transmission couldn't keep it going too much longer.

It's entrtainment...I know him from work, and he's pretty funny. Hollyweird is an act, but I think he's partly legit - 'neck-wise. He does shows with Jeff Foxworthy and other 'necks too.

You still have not explained how it is possible to be racist towards an inanimate object, does one hurt the machine's feelings, perhaps?? This I want to hear.

Also, the terms ricer, riceboyz , etc.,et al, all grew out of the term rice rocket, which was actually a term of endearment (maybe at least some envy) for the very quick two wheeled things coming out of Japan at the time. It had (and still does not have) anything to do with people (Japanese or otherwise), at least not how I use it. In fact, most of the kids I see in "ricer" cars are caucasian, suburban, upper middle class males, NOT Asians of any kind.

BTW, if you think for a microsecond that Japan and it's people are not one of the most racist countries on the planet, you are seriously delusional. It's fine for them to take our money, but try to go and live there and integrate into their society and you'll quickly discover what the term racist really and truely means!!

I don't live in Japan, or France, or Mexico.
I know what those places are like - which is why I like it here, thank you.

I don't need to explain your question because it's stupid.
Terminology CAN be considered racist in content. Say "*** crap" or "Ricer" to someone Japanese face-to-face.
Ricer is not a term of endearment. As a rider/driver of Japanese vehicles for over 20 years, I can assure you it was coined to be negative, and is usually used by ignorant dolts.

Anyway. I won't argue with you - you have your opinion, and it is what it is.

yes but you still dont understand what race is... race is NOT mexican, japaneese, heck, even "hispanic" isnt really a race, its just made up so that PC folks can create lawsuits.

Get your facts straight... nobody ever said that "mongoloid people do this or that"... so nobody was ever racist. They talked about specific products from specific NATIONS... so they were nation-stereotypical... diferent from racist.

"Larry The Cable Guy" wouldn't drive an import (the Suburban is made in Mexico), he would do-the-right-thing and drive a domestic, maybe a Honda Accord.

I don't think the 1986 Suburban was made in Mexico. This whole business of assembling vehicles in Mexico for sale in the USA seemed to happen with NAFTA.

YES, EXACTLY!!! This is my point. Call me a "nationalist" all you want, but do not call me a racist for not loving Asian cars (while loving Asian women!).

Maybe some people who come from areas that are often viewed as being populated by militiamen/skinheads/Klansmen/rednecks and Aryan Bros. have the need to appear as PC as possible and try to make others seem racist in order to take the onus off of themselves/where they came from??

BTW, I do not believe this or feel this way. I've met quite a few people from TX./OK./AZ., and all the other "red states" who were very good, cool, open minded human beings. Just as I expect those people to not think everyone in my area is a leftist, bleeding heart liberal.

Funny can't help myself and take a shot now and than, but did you newer members (like 6000 and up) know when I asked Bob to create this area (actually had to fight one moderators for it) it was for RACE Car oil discussions...

I'm not the controlling type, but figured I'd just mention that as most of the stuff of late is other than Racing...

quick_16, I knew nothing of that. In that context, however, I think it should be noted that the original poster's member number is below 3000
