Well, it's the Daily News, that bastion of integrity...107
That’s how many of these cars are being recalled. 100,000+ built and sold, but a recall of 107 units is “another awakening”?
Get real.
With current NEC code and arc fault breakers, probably not many on new housing.I wonder how many house fires come from chump change wiring?
I've seen some pretty scary wiring in my time. And I really haven't seen that much wiring. With current NEC code and arc fault breakers, probably not many on new housing.
Relevance?
In the last 20 years for sure, probably closer to 40, electrical code has been pretty robust. The only real issue I have seen in my two houses - one was 96 build and current was 2014 build, is UL allowing a lot of these cheap Chinese fixtures and outlets on the market. Arc fault breakers really do work.I've seen some pretty scary wiring in my time. And I really haven't seen that much wiring.
Spot on. Scary. I just wonder how often people wanna charge their new EV, which sucks a lotta current, and patch together a circuit. Could be bad...In the last 20 years for sure, probably closer to 40, electrical code has been pretty robust. Now if people that don't know what there doing mess with / add to, or if the inspector didn't do there job, then what can you do?
Add in Tesla's ongoing issues with their Cybertruck having parts fall off, and bricking themselves. I thought GM was well aware and ahead of their recalls?Well that's not great. Seems these are pretty popular even here. I know GM has had issues off and on with Bolt. I know they had a full stop sale and recall about 2 years ago now.
Not only that but believe it or not human beings, which to electrical wiring sometimes make mistakes. The biggest issue at times occur when drywall screws compromise electrical wiring, and loose connections inside of wire nuts. These issues get greatly magnified when high current is drawn from the circuits.I've seen some pretty scary wiring in my time. And I really haven't seen that much wiring.
OT-You got that right, people screw all kinds of crap onto walls, with some pretty impressive screws. Ask me how I know. Not only that but believe it or not human beings, which to electrical wiring sometimes make mistakes. Also important to note that arc circuit breakers are only used in sleeping/living areas of homes this varies state-by-state.
OT-You got that right, people screw all kinds of crap onto walls, with some pretty impressive screws. Ask me how I know. And electricians, especially in older houses ran wires in some pretty odd places. Many years ago a plumber opened up a ceiling on a job I was working on using a drywall saw, and actually shaved the coating off Romex cable. Another job we did we hung some very expensive paper in a dining room and got a call back from an angry customer. The paper was discoloring in the corner of a room. WHAT? I went there, no pun intended, but the alarm guy put a motion sensor in the corner of the room and drilled a hole clean through a copper pipe supplying water to the toilet. It was a slow leak and took a while to stain the paper. The customer was locked loaded and ready to hang me. lol Needless to say she apologized and was billed for a pretty expensive repair, first from the plumber and then me fixing his mess.
It can happen to the best of us. What pissed me off was my customer was initially blaming me! It took me about 30 seconds to figure out what happened once I saw the motion detector. I said to her call your alarm guy, here's my estimate for the repair get, an estimate from a plumber to open the wall and fix the pipe. Call me when the plumber is done.Ohhh so right ! I did it once too installing security! Drywall screw in, lights went out![]()
A few years ago I had a laptop charger start fire and burned up a kitchen table chair. If the Daughter wasn't home who knows what damage could have been done. A EV battery makes a better fire though,.I wonder how many house fires come from chump change wiring?
