GM EOS (engine oil supplement) label information

I'm posting a question about GM EOS (engine oil supplement).
The front label actually says: "GM VehicleCare E.O.S. Assembly Lubricant", part no.1052367.

I bought a bottle today from the Chevy dealer and he told me that GM has been using this stuff for years and years.

When I read the back label, it had a statement on it that didn't seem to make sense.

The statement was: "GM does not recommend the use of this, or any product, as an additive to engine oil."

I've heard that EOS is a good additive to put in your engine's oil, either for short term, or long term use, depending on people's choice. It is also important in the "breaking-in" of a new engine.

So, if it is so good a product, why does GM have this statement on the bottle?

EOS does go in your engine's oil, right?

Any opinions or information from anyone?

do a search in additives and virgin oil anaylsis. Eos is for assembly and break in of new or rebuilt engines .

I believe they include that statement to avoid liability for any damage the ZDDP might do to a catalyst. In the past it was promoted as an oil additive.
