Just purchased a 2013 GMC Sierra with the 5.3. What's everyone running these days? I have always been pretty old school with my stuff and did short oil changes for all my engines. I asked my friends father who has been a mechanic for over 40 years and he said he uses WolfsHead. I see they make a synthetic that meets Dexos approval. Anyone ever use this oil and have good results? Thanks in advance.

What is your OCI? If it is less than the OLM indicates just use the easiest to obtain PCMO. From the sound of it you would be fine with just plain ol Amalie.

I'm thinking like 4,000 miles. I know oils provide much more but I'm just real meticulous . I use to use havoline and fram filters back in the day with my old jeep and went 300k on 3,000 before I got rid of it.

Wolfs Head is made by Amalie Oil of Tampa Florida. Good quality oil. A bit hard to find, if you have a local distributor or don't mind ordering online, it should work fine in your 5.3.

FF in that was likely a semi-syn ... You could put a dozen different oils in that motor and it will hold up for a long time ...
I go 5k to 7k - depends on what oil, summer, use ...
