RE: "there may not be many out there yet"....The 3.1L V6 is used in the Chevy Lumina and base engine in the new Impala FWD. and many other vehicles. There are a significant number of 3.1 V6's out there. It is an udated, upsized 2.8 V6. And, yes, they have had many complaints about the intake manifold leak. Some claim it is caused by the new long life Dex Cool coolant. It commonly shows up at about 60K. One tip is to change the 'long life' coolant every year, no more than 2 years. The theory is the coolant gets corrosive and attacks the gaskets causing the leaks.
