There is some info in there that is incorrect. I have a fax with TWC VOIP phone and it works perfectly. Also, if you provide your own router you DO NOT have to pay for wireless networking.

I'm pleased to hear that your fax works over VOIP. The fax that I have (HP) did not recommend it. As far as the wi-fi service charge is concerned, it's possible I am mistaken...or it's possible that the charges vary by service area.

Trust me, I work for Time Warner as a CSR. If you have your own router, you do not have to pay for Wireless networking. And as far as your fax goes, your fax doesn't know the difference. As far as your phone and fax is concerned, it's exactly the same as a normal landline phone.

Other than that, I too have had TWC for the 5 years we've been here, I've only worked for TW for 7 months, but I too have had very few outages. Area outages only like 3 in 5 years, I ha da few problems with signal strength due to too many splitters and some bad wiring, but the techs fixed all of that efficiently and it works perfectly now.

FYI, I know Cogeco has a specific setting for FAX lines, as does my ISP when used with VoIP. So there IS a difference.

Man, this is getting worse!! 172ms latency, 27kb d/l,130kb u/l. I'm starting to change my emails on sites to a gmail,so that i can get rid of this stupid service.i'm sure they'll be some i'll forget to change. Is there any way of having verizon forward those after i cancel serviceor anything like that? how is dsl extreme?

With DSL, you have a modem. You want to learn to read statistics from the modem's built-in web pages.

You will want to try plugging the modem directly into the NID outside. If things improve a lot that way, you have a wiring problem or a bad filter inside. Either of those can be an easy fix.

I finally had some tech guy come over.First thing he blames is Magic Jack for the slow speed. I told my wife, how the heck can that do it?! He's not familiar with it so that's the first thing he can point to.So now i talked to him.He finally did tests outside and lo and behold,he found a few problems outside. Now i have 39ms latency,726kbs d/l, 134kbs u/l. Finally! And he said that in 2 days it should be faster. We'll see!
