Went out to the mall with friend, then decided to go for a drive. Got lost. Spent 2 hours trying to get home was in the middle of nowhere. Like driving through amish country alot of the time. Got home after 62 miles, 2 hours later. I looked on google maps and figured out the track. Here is a really roundabout scenic route from Wilton Mall in Wilton, NY, to I-87 exit 9 in Clifton Park/Halfmoon NY. Don't get me wrong, it was alot of fun. Lots of windy, twisty roads with 55MPH Speed limits.... In a car with brand new suspension, excellent road hugging tires.... Oh it was lots of fun. Would do it again.

Nope. I have my cell phone which has Google maps and ATT navigator on it, but where is the fun in that, eh? Getting lost is fun, when you have a full tank of gas and a whole day to kill.

To each their own I guess... I spend so much time on the road for work that I like getting out of my car as much as possible.

A college buddy of mine once got lost driving around. He came back and said he ended up in a place called "[censored]".

I call those Sunday afternoon drives. Yep, lots of fun, and you get to see some beautiful country. I usually just place myself in a box, Highway 22 I know is to the North, Highway 60 to the South, Lake Michigan to the West and Highway 131 to the East.

Getting lost is fun. I have done it on purpose to make myself become familiar with certain areas, or just for the [censored] of it. My roommate and I have ended up in the mountains, on Indian reservations, and occasionally in different states just because we didn't have anything better to do.

I also like getting lost--as long as I'm not under a time limit to be somewhere...an sometimes even if I am. There are lots of excellent places and things to see, whether driving, walking, hiking, whatever.

Sometimes the Garmins get you in more trouble than they're worth. Last winter in an ice storm, I was forced off the main road because of a jackknifed semi.

The Garmin was ADAMANT about taking the shortest route, so it routed me down every farm road of every cornfield in southern Illinois.

That would have been great if only the road was salted and my '03 Chevy Venture work van didn't turn into a rolling sled on the ice. I was forced to turn around to the nearest maintained road and stop at every third gas station for directions.

Whenever my family and I go one trips out of town, we usually get lost. The thing though is we nearly always end up in the worst part of the town we're in. First thing that comes in mind is how to get our butts out of here quick.

I'm going to "get lost" on sunday because me and a friend are going to visit our mutual friend about 45 minutes north on the highway, and we want to take a back way in, so I gotta fill up with gas... I burned a quarter tank yesterday lol.

The only time I "get lost" is cruising for yard sales.

RE the other topic, look for a John Foster song called "Entering Marion" (Massachusetts).
