Gentex mirror compass issue

I just installed a GNTX-126 on my Envoy. The auto dim feature and the thermometer work perfectly, no problems. My only issue is with the compass.

Regardless of what direction the vehicle is facing, it only displays S or SE. N, NW, NE and SW are never displayed. Initially, I thought it was to do with the compass zone. I'm in Zone 7, so I switched it from Zone 8 to Zone 7. Still did not budge. Any ideas what the issue could be? Thanks!

Did you 'calibrate' the compass?

Every vehicle I've driven with a compass mirror has a setting that allows you to put it in calibrate mode, and you're supposed to drive around in big, slow figure 8 patterns or circles (presumably in an empty parking lot) until it figures out all eight directions to display.

Thanks - the calibration worked! I wasn't sure how to calibrate it, and there wasn't much info on the web, so I called Gentex. After selecting the Zone, you just let it revert to the default display and press and hold the compass button until CAL appears vertically on the screen.

That said, I drove around in circles 3 times at 5 MPH as suggested, but CAL remained on the screen. After driving for a while, it went away on its own and now the compass works.
