With all the hwy driving I do, even when I drive hard every now and then and go WOT onto entrence ramps ect, I still get ~27mpgs. So minus the fairly cheap mods on a fairly cheap car, I try to save as much as I can, if it is possible/qise to save.

Though I guess I could compare the saving of going from 5k to 7.5k like switching from 93 back to 87 which would be pretty dumb lol. So good advice there.

Thanks dt4. Here is a pic if you wanted to see it and for the others requesting via PM.

Here is a pic of the UOA, though the post I read said the text is preffered in case of links not working ect.

It only cost $22 plus if you ship it yourself ~$3. Vs. blackstone which is $25 +$10 more for TBN + $38 for visc@100. OAinc seems much cheaper.

Same reason why you want it at 212F... compare VOA to UOA and see how the run affects the oil. UOA/VOA are lacking multiple temp points which would help give you an idea how the oil is taking the abuse.

What i'm saying is, engine oil exceed 100F fairly quickly as the engine warms up. heck, the oil in my crankcase on a hot day in FL is @ 100F

I want to know the condition of the oil at FULL temps, not midway up.

I'm lost as to why 100F is so critical enough to pay $38 just for that..???

Sorry I wasn't exactly sure what I needed to get or got through blackstone, it wasn't as clear to me as OAinc was. But still $25+$10 (+ shipping) for a TBN when I can get that for $25 shipped with OAinc is a no brainer. Though I don't get flashpoint with OAinc and it seems blackstone comes with that. Not really sure how important those numbers are either since I am not tracking/auto-x it or anything.

I just wanted to know the visc cSt@100 (as compared to the visc chat on the non forum BITOG and VOAs) and assumed that is what blackstone was charging $38 for? (It never occured to me that the $38 one was for F not C. Though OAinc calls in visc@100CSC so I am not sure what all those acronyms mean but they appear to be the same. Blackstone also charges for a viscosity index, which I though could maybe be the same as cSt@100? I just wanted to know it and didn't want to pay $38 for it when I oculd get it included in the $25.

makes sense, i guess. I'm more then happy with the info provided by Blackstone in their standard $25 kit and don't mind paying extra for TBN, etc.

I'm not sure where you are looking at Blackstone, did you look at the site? Blackstone doesn't charge extra for viscosity information (40C and 100C), its included in the $25 standard UOA.

Though I see now I was mistaken and that is only for a 100*F visc not 40c and 100C. So my fault. I stil liked OAinc, and think I will stick with them for now. They were fast, it was simple and free TBN is nice.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/report-explanation.php

I think that will show you what a report from Blackstone contains, or look at many on this site. TBN is extra.

Not trying to sway you from OAI as they are a good lab from everything we've seen on here, some would argue better I am sure. Just making sure you have the right info on Blackstone.
