I have been researching portable generators and install hardware for hooking up to the house. Anyone using a GenerLink? If not what Transfer Switch are you using?

To me the GenerLink looks like the simplest/easiest to use but more expensive option.

Figure out the must have circuits in your house. 220V circuits will take two. I have a 6 circuit manual transfer switch. I installed it myself. Not a big deal. I have well pump, oil boiler and 3 circuits in kitchen. I can switch any of them from street power to generator. If power goes off I will start with just the 3 circuits in kitchen. Microwave and refrig are on the kitchen circuits. If cold I switch boiler. If outage lasts for a long time I will switch over the well pump.

I have one battery UPS for internet modem and another for PC. In summer daytime I might not do anything with the generator for several hours.
