I just built a small shed to keep the generator in. That way we don't have to lug it out of the shed in bad weather if the power goes out. We just have to walk out and start it along with plug it in. We did this in hopes it keeps the hurricanes at bay. The thinking is, we spent all this money and now will not need it. Hope Spring Eternal I know.

Anyway. I was wondering about the battery charger. It has the small plug to plug the charger into so you can charge the battery. What I was wondering is if I left that plugged in to the generator but keep the charger unplugged will it drain the battery? I will unplug it when we run the generator.

I have a few things to finish up and when I get it all done, I will post pictures of my little project. Thanks.

If you have whats called a "Battery Tender", it can be plugged in 24/7, to keep the starting battery at full charge when not in use. The battery for your generator is about the same size as a motorcycle battery, and once it has the battery at full charge, it goes dormant and just monitors the state of charge. It doesn't' use much power at all even while charging the battery.,,

Nah the question is, does a wall wart connected on the DC side only of the transformer "leak" current out of the battery its connected to?

If it has an LED that lights when connected like the cheezy harbor freight one, then yes.

I found the manual online, imagine that. LOL. It states not to let the charger on longer than 48hrs and to unplug it when the generator is in use.
I guess I can get the battery at full charge, then let the charger plugged into the generator but not into the wall and in a few days, check the voltage on the battery. Only thing is, you have to remove the fuel tank to access the battery. Not a smart design.
