I'm finishing up a jug of Super Tech 5w30 for lawn mower and snow blower - both are running very well (or so I thought)

Where would you get that idea? If you believe that then you are going to really hate the 0w30 I use in everything except my snowthrower, which this year I am using 0W-20.

My standby Generac 16kw (propane) is 7 years old. I have been using Napa 5w30 full synthetic, but just like with the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, the oil consumption grinds my gears. The Generac manual is a joke--calls for an OC after 200 hours OR 24 hours of continuous use. What the heck is that? Should have bought a Kohler with a real engine. Anyhow, I'm switching to 10w30 full syn, maybe Amsoil 4 cycle.
