7/18/06, Dyson Delux report on ‘03 Toyota Echo with 55452 miles on engine and 9632 miles on OCI of Castrol 0w30 GC green. Oil filter was a Toyota 90915-YZZF2 and AF Toyota. FP-60 used as specified by Mfg., and LC-20 @ 2 ounces /quart to start and 2 ounces /1K miles. MPG has been 40.8 average and steady. Daily commute is 75 miles round trip with a 250 pound passenger over the costal mountain range between Santa Cruz and San Jose, Ca. No make-up oil. Second column is the current OCI. The first column is the previous Blackstone analysis with 7062 miles on GC green.

There is a lot more information provided by using Terry's delux analysis, and it was returned to me 7 days after mailing the sample. The previous run was the first following the A-RX rinse phase.

So, what do you folks make of this? It looks like the fuel is measured differently, different units perhaps? I've no clue what the Oxidation, Nitration and Sulfation or Vndx values mean, so help here would be nice. John

Viscosity seems high, but I didn't convert. (When is Blackstone going to be like the rest of the earth and do KV in cSt?)

250# passenger? 41 mpg? I don't think you could ask for better wear numbers.

As shown here many times, GC Green is good oil. It looks as though when you add LC-20, GC is still good oil. Is there anything in this report that would shed light on wether LC-20 plus GC is better than GC alone?

Pablo, thanks for the reply and I agree that the little puddle jumper is hanging in there regarding thr load.

GMorg, nope, no proof of anything that you allude to or anything else I expect. The combination worked well though and I'll continue with the RX Terry prescribes. Virtually no wear at near 10K miles is good enough for me to not want to wander or test.

Has anyone got some help for me on what the expanded test results mean? I'm only used to seeing the typical Blackstone reports. John

I wish my commute was only 75 miles round trip or I weighed only 250 lbs..

And I get over 41 mpg like you!

The used oil analysis looks pretty good. Your engine will last a nice long time..

Take care, bill

I would think that 24 oz of LC-20 might affect viscosity.

2 oz/quart start plus = sump X 2

then
2 oz/1000 miles = 18 oz.

Read it again:

Viscosity, 40C- 69.1 cst
Viscosity, 100C- 10.6 cst
Viscosity Index, 139

Add less LC20 and your oil won't thin out like this....

Wear is excellent, but then again it's a Toyo engine.

Flashpoint - 370°F 340

Your fuel in oil is Fuel b>

What does the '229' mean?

Is the '229' a typo?

There may be some Fuel Dilution here in this oil and lowering the viscosity of the oil,
the first analysis had a Flash Point of 370,
they may be a slow build up of fuel in the oil when the OCI is taken out for more miles.
