Gasoline pump running dry, am I being cheated?

Not necessarily. Vacuum systems still exist, they are no longer favored at large pumpers because they are noisy and slow, but I prefer them as line leaks are a non issue - the gas just runs back into the UST under gravity - instead of being spewed at high pressure into the environment until line leak detection takes over, if it does.

While I normally agree with this, they all likely come from the same place. I know there is a fuel distribution plant on Neville Island in the Pittsburgh area (you can smell it before you see it, lol). I've seen Sheetz, Valero, Pilot, etc. trucks all coming out of that place. A place that moves fuel fast is the best place, name brand or not.

Absolutely. Many name branded outlets do not move as much gas. Basically it is about pricing. We almost always fill our trucks up at the cheapest place in town. It is super busy and delivery tankers are there all the time trying to keep the tanks full.

I cannot remember when we last had an issue that could be blamed on fuel...
