Kohler 17 hp in kubota lawn tractor. Gas smell in oil. Bluish smoke, backfire on start.

Engine maintained yearly oil filter etc this is a 2003 engine. Is this a carburetor problem is it may be like a broken diaphragm or dirt on the needle?

Talk about information under-load?

Does it do it every time or just on first seasonal start up?

Is the blue smoke continuous?

Does the oil smell like fuel after the engine has been worked and up to temperature?

Is your oil level higher than it should be?

Does it start and run well or does it miss and backfire?

Was there any sudden stop of engine in the middle of running?

So that flywheel shared key....and advanced ignition timing?

Drain the fuel bowl to flush the needle valve. Drain the oil and replace with a thicker oil. Check the oil before every use. If the engine runs well other wise, install a fuel shut off. If it has a diaphragm fuel pump, it could be bad. A stuck choke could do it. A dirty air filter too Please report back with your fix.
