Gas, am I nuts?

To start with use a full bottle and fill the tank then add a small amount every fill up, the markings are on the bottle.

With 35K there maybe some deposit build up on the intake valves and the injectors maybe a little dirty. The engine is still young enough to nip it in the bud so to speak.

Thanks. Amazon had it for $10.01 and your advice makes sense. The car will trip 42K miles next week, so I bought 2 bottles. I think after this tank I will just avoid the Marathon station.

I am a couple hours south of you, my last four fill-ups have provided better gas mileage in two of my vehicles. I was attributing it to the suddenly drier, slightly cooler air the last couple weeks. I gained about 10% in both vehicles in the last two weeks. I almost always get gas at Mobil or BP because they are close to my house and office, these 4 were all from the same Mobil. Both cars feel noticeably stronger and my gas mileage is up too. Maybe someone forgot to put in the Ethanol.

I always get bad mileage in the summer - it seems the worst when the temp is over ~95. I attribute some of it to my engine driven fan which runs almost non-stop in the summer, but also the heat and humidity seem to suck the breath out of engines.

The Redline SL-1 arrived today. I added one bottle and filled the tank.

The bottle has no marking for maintenance doses. It just says to add a bottle every 3000 miles and fill the tank. The bottle also says it is safe for regular use. Any advice?

That's not the only reason we have seasonal gas. Unless my thinking is outdated, summer gas has fewer volatiles than winter gas to prevent vapor lock. Removing the volatiles also makes it more expensive to produce. It's cheaper to leave it in for winter gas.

And talking about BP gas -- I too have heard than all brands of gas come from the same pipe and terminal, with the exception of Amoco Silver. This comes down the pipe separately. Amoco is now part of BP.

I run it 1oz to 10 gallons of fuel. The one full bottle now is the way to start and you could run a bottle every 3k but my cars have a habit of sitting long periods sometimes. It took me 3 yrs to put 3K on my 2007 SKY (bought new) before i sold it.

I just put the redline in an old stab-bil bottle and use it when i tank.
Running small doses continuously keeps carbon and deposits down to a minimum.
I have an small engine that just turned 100hrs, i bought it new and ran 1 single cap full of redline in it every tank since day 1.
Last week i went through it for the winter and the piston head is still shiny, no valve deposits and the carb is new looking, no white corrosion or even staining in the fuel bowl. I'm sold on the merits of continuous use.
Do what is most convenient for you, either way works.

It is the winter blend. Marathon winter blend sucks but their summer is pretty good. My choice of winter blend are Shell, Chevron and BP. Summer I use either BP or Marathon. Chevron pulled out of Kentucky for good. I used to use it exclusively during both summer and winter with excellent result in MPG.
