G48 coolant substitute, older Tesla

Teslas up to 2024, and all European Teslas use G48 coolant. Due to certain chemicals, G48 is being phased out in Europe.

US made Teslas from 2024 use a orange "HTF-LS" coolant instead of the G48, while Euro cars still have G48. Seems to be a floating changeover where the system was the exact same, just the fluid type changed.

As G48 is not very available anymore, and according to the manufacturer only has a lifespan of 3 years, a substitute is needed at some point. So far Tesla hasn't updated their official information, only stating you should replace G48 with G48 and HTF-LS with HTF-LS.

What would be the best options after flushing out all the G48?
  1. G40?
  2. G64/65?
  3. The orange HTF-LS? (which seems impossible to find unless you buy a drum)
  4. VW G11, which seems pretty similar to G48 and is still available?
  5. Something else I haven't thought of?
I am in Europe, so specific US-only products won't help me far - standards and specifications are easier to work with..

Here's BASF's Glysantin replacement list for G48. This is for all of Europe:

I found some G48 concentrated in 5 liter cans at one of the online spare parts stores that I will use for now. I know other coolants would be technically better, but as long as I have drivetrain warranty (expires june 2027), I will stick to the G48 so they can't deny a warranty claim because something that was not listed was used. A tip will also be to find a BMW dealer that might have G48 on drums that is willing to sell you some. I would have no problems converting to for example G65 with next change after drivetrain warranty is out.

Yea I found that someone, today, listed some g48 coolant for sale on French craigslist (leboncoin). Ordered that immediately so I have some for now.

BMW phased out blue G48 in favor of the new green HT-12 and insists that it's backwards compatible with the older G48 spec cars. I would feel comfortable using HT-12 in the Tesla if that's what you can get.
