Fuel pump for my 2000 F150?

A lot of the pumps from this era are obsolete through Ford / Motorcraft. If you shoot me the last 8 of your VIN, I can figure out which is the correct number. Also a few years ago Ford stopped including the seal with their pumps, so that has to be purchased as well.

Oe or oe equivalent quality. I would not bother with cheap fuel pumps I have friends that bother with them and they only last 1-2 years and complain about it and try another. The tow truck bill alone kills the price difference and then some especially if you're very far away.

I've heard it said Motorcraft is the only one which TESTS their pumps.
That alone....
I doubt that's true. Motorcraft contracts (probably) for some company to make their pumps.

I would guess most pump companies do some simple tests after the pump is manufactured. Maybe Motorcraft requires the pumps to be more rigorously tested.

Lots of internet rumors. Like Doorman makes high quality pumps.

When we look up pumps on this vintage of truck, before the VINs actually worked in the catalog for eliminating options we had to look for certain things. One was wheelbase, which in this case is 139". That usually eliminates a bunch of options right away. Then sometimes we need to know the cab style, engine (obviously but more important with Super Doodys), sometimes the number of ports on the pump, and then the emissions requirements that the vehicle was built with. People for some reason get so irrationally angry when they refuse to give me the VIN and we play 20 questions with every answer "shouldn't matter they're all the same, you're the dealer get me someone who knows what they are doing." At that point I toss them out and help someone who is willing to help me help them.

Didn't know that was a thing. But I guess it does not surprise me given some of the people I've worked around in my life. Myself I like to do what I can to help get the right part. Thanks for your help.

As far as aftermarket, I usually try to get Delphi when parts are disco duck.
+1. Me and friend installed a Delphi complete unit into his ‘96 F-150. It works fine. Made in Mexico. Another friend has a Carter in his ‘98 Explorer, made in USA. It was made when Federal-Mogul owned them, now it’s First Brands Chinesium. It’s still working almost 16 years later. The fuel gauge gave up though.

OEM suppliers are TI Automotive(Walbro), Bosch, Denso and Delphi claims to be an OEM supplier. Everything else is a gamble. I’d trust a Delphi one if I need to go aftermarket.

We put a Delphi pump in a 97 GMC truck a few years ago and it only lasted about 11,000 miles and a year and a half. We also replaced the fuel filter at the same time. We installed another one since it had a lifetime warranty, and we could not find an OEM pump for it. So far, it's still working but we have not put that many miles on it since.
