Hi all,

I have a 2005 RX330. It "pings" under load, especially on hot days.

I have replaced plugs and coilpacks and cleaned the intake system. It has otherwise been very well maintained.

Fuel additives seems to reduce pinging. I'm thinking fuel filter or injectors could be to blame.

I have two treatments of BG44K. Im thinking of running one treatment prior to changing filter; and another immediately after.

Anyone have any thoughts on this problem/this method?
Thank you

i would try a Berrymans piston soak to dissolve all the carbon on the pistons and ring area. would require a oil change after but will be by far the best piston cleaning. i would then follow up with the 44k.

Have you tried using higher octane fuel ?
I had a 91' CRX that would ping like that .
I'd run 89/93 octane vs the recommended 87 and it would subside.

19 years old I'm sure it has had "octane creep" over time. Burnt fuel build up on piston tops and combustion chambers. Completely normal. Berry Mans is good stuff. Try running 2-3 tanks of Shell V-Power too. It does a good job of cleaning deposits. Good Luck!!!

Knock sensors were replaced 2 months ago (preventatively) with new OEM along with OEM coil packs and plugs.

I used premium 98 octane (Australia).

I should have done a piston soak prior to fitting the plugs and coilpacks. Its a bit of a hassle getting to the rear piston bank.
