fuel filter 2002 jetta

Hi all
I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to remove the plastic connectors that fits to the fuel filter, i have been told that pressing the connector at a certain spot will release it. There is some kind of clamp inside the fitting.

but i have yet to see it.

New filters usually come with new clips. Because it's very hard to remove the plastic horseshoes without breaking the little barbs off the ends. It's those barbs that hold the clips in place. Look at a new one to figure out the old one..

On my 00 GTI the connecting clips are rounded on side and squared on the other.Sqeeze this gently with plyers or fingers.
