I've been using Redline SI-1 fairly consistently in one of my vehicles for a long time. The car has a problem with a sticky fuel gauge, so it very rarely reads full when tanked up. The problem is in the tank; I had the sender replaced previously because it didn't work at all. Is there any additive that can really make this thing work like it should?

I hear that certain additives in Techron concentrate help protect against buildups that can cause the electrical readiings to mess up. Run a bottle of it through and see if it helps your problem at all, make sure you get the TECHRON CONCENTRATE, not the Proguard product that is very weak.

I would try about 10 ounces of pure Acetone in your next tank full. If anything will clean it that will. Techron is not a bad idea either, I love the stuff and also is a solvent but not as strong. Anything they put in a plastic container wont be as strong as something that needs to be in a metal or glass container, IE acetone. Maybe when you clean it try UCL or MMO for some good lubrication. The knock on Acetone is that it doesn't lubricate, but is probably the best cleaner you can use in your tank. I usually always follow a cleaner with a lubricant, personal preference I guess.
Acetone is a very powerful solvent, but it can be held in plastics if they are the right type. In a type 2 bottle they work just fine, this is the same type you get lucas in. I use my little lucas bottle to dose FP60, and when I do cocktails of MMO and acetone.
MMO & acentone is a good mix? Never knew it! Might give it a shot. Any particular ratio & dosage? Thanks.

I just started using it so I cannot comment other than to say I would use Acetone in one tank and use the lubricant in the other. Both Acetone or MMO aren't good in high doses, so I don't know the effect of using both together. At the bottom of this link there is a chart that shows the best ratios of Acetone to use, it looks like 2 to 3 ounces per 10 gallons is ideal for gas milage. In BGK's case I would go a little higher than that because he is trying to "clean" something that's sticking.

I mix them alot, they blend quite well, they make a milky pink solution. and I havent seen them precipitate out of one another.
I had a problem with a fuel gauge in a Harley that never worked right (always read full, but the low fuel light was on all the time). After about 3 tanks of FP60, the thing is working now. Now, of course it is still a gas gauge on a motorcycle so it isn't very accurate at all, but at least the needle moves now.
I've never had an increase in MPG or noticeble performance difference from Acetone or MMO+Acetone. MMO by itself, seemed to make the engine *slightly* smoother/quieter, but again, no MPG change.
FP60 and Lucas UCL seem to give a slight bump in MPG, just enough to make using them free or a money savings.
