Glad to join very informative forum ,
Has anyone any info on more detail specs of Fuchs GT1 pro C3 oil .
Running a VW T5.1 no pdf or egr ,been using c3 all its life with 5000m oil changes ,now on 212000 miles no oil usage .
Do I stick with Fuchs or turn to something new , winters no cold here anymore rarely below 0c summer temps can be 30cin N Ireland .Do lots of longish runs on motorway oil temps 105 c to 115c . so 5w30 more than ok ,5w40 mite be better .... Thanks Thoughts ??

Can't go wrong using any brand as long as it meets minimum specs but has approvals better yet and it's changed accordingly. I'd avoid oils like mannol which not only don't meet euro approvals but sometimes don't even meet basic ilsac/api requirements. But most oils aren't that special and steady high speeds aren't hard on engines since the load is low and constant.

As for viscosity they're not as far apart as you'd imagine. Euro 30's are at least 3.5 and tend to be that and euro 40's are at least 3.5/3.7 and tend to be that as well. Only boutique oils push the hths higher up within a viscosity grade. Non euro 5w-30 is at least 2.9 hths but they tend to be around 3.0-3.3 but there's also the after shear and euro oils hold up better since it's part of some euro approval requirements. If 5w-40 costs the same I'd use that. I've looked at UK oil sites for fun and saw that oddly enough valovline euro was semi consistently one of the lowest priced oils on that site that did meet proper approvals while other cheaper options didn't but I don't know about oil shopping in ireland.

Stick to what you have always used. Fuchs is the largest German industrial oil blender. They are a top-notch company.

Fuchs is the largest German industrial oil blender. They are a top-notch company.

About three to four years ago, I thought Fuchs would be the one to acquire Valvoline. Got it wrong!

Carry on, you have an excellent usage history. I'm not a fan of jumping around with different brands, the add packs may not work together to provide the best protection. I pick a top tier oil and stick with it, letting the same additives hopefully protect the engine for its entire life.
