Bought this for my truck but wasn’t able to use it due to leaking. Mike at valvomax was kind enough to send me a couple of replacement kits but still no luck.

Well, I recently installed a new gold plug magnetic drain plug and it also leaks the exact same way as the valvomax, so I’m quite sure it isn’t the drain plugs. No oil inside the cap of the valvomax so the threads just aren’t sealing for whatever reason on either the valvomax or gold plug.

With all that said, I’d like to offer the plug and replacement kits for $30 shipped in the US or $25 pickup local in Lee county Alabama.

I’ll add, the drain hose worked perfect and it irks me to no end it won’t work.

Thanks for looking and happy to answer any questions

A fellow had a stripped oil pan drain which allowed oil to leak past the regular drain plug.

I installed a Fumoto drain plug so I wouldn't be using the bad threads over and over.
I set it with Permatex Ultra-Black and it was leak free.

It sounds like that would work for you.

thanks for rec. I used the sealer that came with the valvomax and leak was the exact same. OEM drain plug works fine. I think it could be the design of the OEM drain plug as it kind of has an indention (for lack of a better term) that the rubber washer fits in. But I’m no expert

The Honda's pan was so badly stripped, I couldn't spare the thickness of the included soft gasket.
The Ultra-Black worked well.

FYI: Fumoto has an office in Manhattan on 34th St. It was interesting to see.
The product is in open, wall catch, plastic bins, unpackaged. They take and package orders there.
I was amazed at how many sizes they offer.

It has to do with the washer, the original is rubber and captured in the head of the drain bolt the valvomax and gold plug have thin aluminum washers. I have installed the Valomax on GM vehicles with the rubber but had to use a wider aluminum washer.
Try this size is M12 but have a wider sealing area, don't worry if it says for Toyota or whatever it is a simple m12 washer.
Too bad it is not M14x1.50 I could use a couple of those.

Thanks! May try that. So you used the rubber washer plus the aluminum m12 washer?

Wasn't there a couple discussions on those coated Toyota ones leaking with Valvoline Restore and Protect for whatever reason? I have a couple factory Toyota ones and was going to use one today but that thought sticks in my head.

The problem is people are torquing the bolts to 15-18 ft lbs. Needs to be torqued to 29-30 for washers to actually crush. This is for steel drain pan. Aluminum will be less. Use the Toyota crush washer
