SO 2000 Dakota 4wd, the Dakota is well known for its front end issues particularly ball joint and tie rods. I have been hearing some noticible creaking and groaning from the front end, especially when braking and turning sharply, more on right hand turns than left. Took the old girl in to get the suspension and steering looked at, told everything was tight and looked good, and they suspect frame flex on an older vehicle and possible that something is rubbing. The tech said it could be one of those problems you could spend years trying to find. My question, could it be anything else other than the suspension/steering that I had looked over, or should I have someone else look at it as well? Thanks in advance.

Time for a second opinion.

A lot of people have had their lower ball joints snap in half with no warning.

People that own the Dodge Dakota that is.

The local news had a big story about it a few years back. They had a mechanic on the news cast demonstrate how the ball joint wears out from having no grease zerks. People have had their entire wheel tear off the spindle at highway speeds and subsequently sustain grave injuries.
