I purchased my 05 yamaha YZF R1 new it 2005, with 19,xxx on the OD i lost the engine using Honda GN4 10-40 this year, Now i cant claim for sure it was the oils fault but it was a crank bearing that toasted the rod and crank, so now i have my Beast back and Yamaha *local shop* filled it with lucas oil. I ran 600 miles on the Lucas for re-break in and dumped it in favor of Mobil 1 4T Racing oil. Im wondering or looking for comparable oils in the same performance catagory. Im dumping the oil for fresh every 1,500 2,000 mi. This is stricktly a street bike but i do run it, and it often see's redline or close to it.
im just wondering what others would consider using.

Is anyone tired of hearing me say Motul 300V?

On a serious note, I don't know enough about bikes to make a recommendation, but given how popular Motul is for their motorcycle stuff I think they should be on your list.

ok, can you tell me why you would recomend Motul over lets say
Mobil 4T
Amsoil
Redline
Repsoil
Bike specific oils ?
Ive not read any of your prevous post's I spend most of my time in other forums on Bitog.

I wouldn't. Like I said, I don't know enough. Just saying they should be on your list.

I'm pretty sure Motul makes some motorcycle-specific 300V, as well as some more street-oriented motorcycle oils. They are very well known in motorcycle circles, especially internationally, and they sponsor a lot of racing teams.

Yeah, i know. just never tried the stuff myself. guess im looking for first hand experiences. Im new to motorcycle syn-oil, but extremely well versed on motorcycles and motorcycle conventional oils. just new to the synthetic game with my bikes and cars, im collecting opinions and experiences as i go along. trying to save myself some grief by asking questions. thanks for your input !

also Motul is like $55-$60 FOR A 4 QRT jug here, kinda rich for as often as im changing, im curious about the other brand names that work equally well for less coin !
