Excellent score.

But pretty much getting above 760 does not change things. You will get the best rate at 760.

Most credit card companies nowadays offer your score free when you access your account/statement online

their sources of data vary, so I get different scores

Capital one = unrealistically high
Discover = about right
Chase = unfairly low

Edit: Yep, this web site proves that the above website is the ONLY govt approved wesbite for your free annual credit report.

This is absolutely correct.
Surf over to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website to read about your rights and the law.
Any credit reporting site that is not a .gov website will try to sell you something and use your personal information as the product.

The three largest credit reporting agencies are required by law to provide you with a free copy of you credit report every 12 months.

The free report from the 3 largest agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) can only be accessed through www.annualcreditreport.com.

They are not required to provide you a free copy of your FICO or Vantage credit score, but they can sell you a copy.

Many credit cards provide your FICO score free as a privilege.
Your bank or other financial institution may provide it free to you also if you are a big customer.

If your bank pulls it to help you understand your credit report it could be a hard pull (avoid). I asked and they told me a hard pull.

I get my free annual reports from annualcreditreport.com on my birthday. Easy to remeber the last time I got it.
I have heard you should request one every 4 months, so you can keep an eye on it through the year (or just pay for a monitoring service).

It is weird with the credit card credit scores.
On 3 of my credit cards, the scores range from 791-866.
I did just take out a car loan, and the one that is 791 now was 825 last month before the loan, as well as that one being a VantageScore credit score, the other 2 are labeled FICO.
My credit score per the credit union where I got the loan (a hard pull) was 837, I am guessing that was FICO?

At AnnualCreditReport.com, you may want to get (1) Credit Report from one of the three every 4 Months.
That would space it out evenly thru-out the year.

Not long ago, I froze my Credit Reports so no one can look them up / eliminated Id theft in that respect.
Because of that, I sleep a lot better.

...

Yeah, that is what I meant

The people who really need to monitor their credit reports are those with a common name. If there is no direct match for a new credit item, the CRA use fuzzy logic to find best match. That is where things can go wrong and something placed on your credit report in error.

So if your name is John Smith I would definitely freeze your credit.

I pull credit reports for rentals. All three use different scoring methods. There is usually a 20 to 30 point difference between the scores if not more, depending on what was reported to each bureau. For mortgages they just use the middle score. Sites like credit karma are sometimes known as fako scores because they don't use the same scoring models the banks do.
