Fram ultra for chevy Sonic

Hey guys I'm new to BITOG forums but have been lurking for a few months. I've been doing research on the Fram Ultra and can't seem to find one for a Chevrolet Sonic 1.8l. Right now I'm using Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 and the oem PF2257G AC delco cartridge filter which hey you can't go wrong with. I've just heard a lot of good things about the Fram ultra and wanted to give it a shot. Do they not make one for the sonic? or they just don't come in cartridge filters?

That number crosses to a CH10246

So if they made it an Ultra would likely be XG10246 (and a Tough Guard TG10246) neither of which seem to be good part numbers.

You might PM Motorking but I would say they do not make one.

Have you looked for WIX, Purolator or Royal Purple equivalents? They are all wire backed.

I don't think you are going to find an Ultra or equivalent filter for that cartridge. It is only used in a small number of GM engines and is not likely to attract a huge number of alternatives.

The AC Delco OEM unit has excellent specs and can be bought at a decent price on RockAuto.com and other places. Just keep using that and don't worry about it.

Arent some of the AC Delo filters re-badged Mahle or Mann filters?

Yeah I guess I'll just stick with the AC Delco it seems like a well put together filter. dlundblad, I'm not sure about mann or mahle but I believe hastings makes a lot of them. Yeah the 1.8l are only used on the cruze and sonic..but I believe the 2016 cruze is getting an upgraded engine now.

I think this only applies to some of the specialized filters, like the Volt's PF65.

The Ecotec cartridges are Hengst, and most of their cans are Ecores.

yeah I've heard the name hengst before as well. I haven't seen anyone bashing the AC Delco filters so that must be a good thing haha.

On the 2.2/2.4 Ecotecs that take the PF457, the filter and the housing it goes into on the engine are both made by Hengst and are top quality. Not sure if this one is the same.

on rockauto when I bought my oem filter it said it was made by hengst so I'm thinking they're alike.
