Yesterday when I went to walmart I took a peek inside 3 filters (some for some applications I was curious about) and the filter media was different for one of them. That site doesn't have a picture of the Super Tech filter, so I'm not sure which media it is and I forgot to check that filter yesterday.

If you also notice, the two wix filters that were tested don't have the identicle ratings either.

of course, K&N, M1, A/C, and Supertech all have similar looking media... why would champion use a different media on the STP?

Then again, look at the k&n and the Supertech. If there is a small amount of error in the test, those two medias coudl be the same.

They must have several different grades of filter media paper, just think about going to the office supply store- how many different grades of paper do they have and that's just the ones that they choose to sell-heavy/cheap/shiny/resume stuff, and don't forget the cotton kind to use for wedding announcements!

I have two used oil analysis, one with Mobil 1 filter and one with K&N, the insolubles number was the same for both at 0.4.

Both the information on the website and the information found on the package are correct.

The tests that rate for the single pass and multi-pass are two different tests. Test HS806 (SAE standard test) resulted in the 98% single pass efficiency rating, while test J858 for particles larger than 20 microns (SAE standard test) resulted in the 99% multi-pass efficiency rating.

ok that is for particles larger than 20 microns, what about the smaller ones? are particles smaller than 20 microns not a threat to my HEMI? the flow tests that bob did on the TG showed it had the most pressure drop, maybe it does filter better. are these the same test spe and mpe that are done on similar filters? oh and by the way i wouldnt dream about usin a $1500 murray, i cut my grass with a $15000 john deere
