Fram TG12060 Pleat Collapse at 5400 miles

Fram TG suppose to be good for 15k OCI I wonder what happen . Fram been around for years this has to be addressed.

That's what wide pleat spacing will do, doesn't matter the brand. For a 15k rated filter at a bit over a third of that, tear or not, not exactly confidence inspiring. If it didn't tear, best can be said, it survived. Wonder what it would have looked like at even 7500 miles.

To my eye looks like skimpy media area. I've seen other brands here flogged for less.

Thanks for c&p.

We were also averaging 38 mpg in a vehicle rated for 29. Our best average is 44 on our Equinox
thats pretty dam impressive , i had a 2016 malibu with same engine , that was about the same mpg , the 2021 malibu is not so impressive

That's why I did an oil sample. I bet it's a combo of the oil filter and oil
You missed my point. If anything oil-related were to cause a 30%+ loss in efficiency, you would be redefining the entire thick-vs-thin debate.

You’ve either got a fueling problem, a serious mechanical problem, or a math problem. That, and as mentioned, it is winter. All modes of driving will take more fuel; on my Fords there is a fairly linear drop of roughly 0.5 mpg drop for every 10*F decrease from 65 degrees, meaning at 15* I am down ~2.5mpg.

Not an accusation, but considering that you’re claiming a 50% increase over EPA mileage numbers on a gas vehicle, I’d tend to think that it was a math issue above all else.
