Off a Corolla at work. Vehicle had oil change done somewhere else then was at dealer for warranty work. Not many miles on filter or unknown oil. Put a AUTO EXTRA 618-51394 back on and ECO PIWER 0w20 oil from Safety Kleen in. 27,xxx miles on vehicle. I wouldn’t put this or extra guard on any vehicle. I’ll take a ULTRA or Titanium Thank You

Looks like the ph4967 I cut open a while back. Not bad.

Great pics! I may run one of these on my Kohler lawnmower since there doesn't seem to be much crossover for my particular filter.

No signs of failure??? then filter is good to go regardless of the fact that I'd never buy it or an extraguard

The accountants working hard to increase profit margin by reducing media length by 2-4" causes that pleat spacing. I'd want those extra 1-4 pleats if I was crazy enough to blindly go 10k intervals as recommended for the automaker's newer engines taking 0w16 and 0w20 oils.

My only issue with the missing pleats is that the area turns into a 'sail' for the oil flow, and the oil might punch thru, or separate the media from the fiber endcap adhesive. Media deformation is yuck.

That pleat spacing is terrible. I'd feel better using a $2 (Chinese made) EcoGuard....the spacing has been even in every one of them I've seen cut open.

The pleat spacing means nothing if it didn't tear. I've cut one of these open after5k/6mo, the media is incredibly strong. I couldn't tear it with my hands. I don't think stepping on it could tear it either. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. Cut one open and feel it for yourself.

You wouldn't have a tap at startup? Low oil light?
You wouldn't know if the louvers are closed until you look inside the filter. Yes, it may come with those potential symptoms but you would have to pinpoint the oil filter louvers being closed as the cause. Most louver issues i've saw were "Partially Closed" & a few fully closed but most being open it would be pretty slim for them to be that bad. This may be the obvious but always check the filters first if you can before putting them on.

Were you wanting to know the symptoms of closed louvers?

No that would be pretty obvious. Think I'm going to stay away from louver filters
