Not sure which one i should go with,

this is for an 06 corolla CE , heres prices and model

1) Mann-Filter MA 1026 $10.10
2) Fram CA9482 Extra Guard $10.93 - $2 rebate = $8.93
3) Wix 46834 $13.93
4) Toyota Genuine Parts 17801-0D020 $16

I am not in too dusty of area, I am looking for good airflow. Car will not be mine a year from now , so yeah.

thanks

Fram's air filters are pretty good. I'd pick that or the Mann. Many of the Wix air filters I've seen seem a bit flimsy and have less pleats.

But do they all fit and filter to the manufacturer's specs? Probably so.

But if you're selling it in a year anyway, I'd put in whatever's least expensive & easiest to get... so probably Fram.

My reference of air filters for your Corolla in order:

1) Toyota Genuine
2) Fram
3) Mann-Filter
4) Wix

OEM air filter is usually best fit, Fram air filter is better than Wix, Purolator ..., Mann air and oil filters are very good at reasonable price.

This is a great breakdown. The cost of OEM is a little high but I have used all of these brands of air filters Frams are pretty darn good (esp/ for that price.

A lot of Wix recommendations, I have found them to be hit or miss at best. Some models are great others seem poorly constructed.

Your 06 Corolla 1.8L air intake is similar in design to my 02 Camry 2.4L. I clean out the air intake box and seal during filter change. Gives me a chance to evaluate how well the air filter sealed/blocked dust on the clean air side. I have not tried the Mann but have tried the Toyota OE, Fram, and a Napa air filter that looks identical to the Wix you list. The OE and Fram performed perfect. The seal on the Napa was no good, the clean air side of the air box had streaks of dust leading up to the MAF sensor. Not much rubber around the seal but I think a lot of the reason is the Napa filter flexes/bends too much when I step on it and suck in a lot of air. I suspect thats happening because its bending just holding it. And with not much rubber to start that could cause a breach at high rpm/draw. So my Toyota gets the Fram because I can get it at Walmart for $8.97.

Fram still uses the more expensive nitrile sealing gaskets on it's rigid frame filters like the OP's. Many others use a cheaper composite material or it appears on the Wix, none at all. I'd pick the Fram. Fram EG FTW.

On my ex wife's '07 and '10 corollas, the Wix was practically identical to the OEM. IIRC I used the Wix. Glad to hear that there are potential issues with the Wix on this application... given that she is now my ex wife, in retrospect I should have just removed the filter altogether and called it a day... Come to think of it, I should have run used SAE30 tractor oil in the crankcase too ; )

But I digress... OEM filter in this application would be my #1 choice, FRAM would be #2.

If the car will be gone in a year, I'd just shake out the old one really well and put it back in. Let the next guy take the hit
