Fram date code

Fram date code on side of canister is S21461...that 2 is
2002 or 2012 ?
PH6017A Extraguard motorcycle filter going on a Polaris ATV
with 0x40 castrol syn oil. Filter has been in house closet
How long I don t rember. USE IT or TOO OLD ?, buy a new one

It could be either year since they only use single digit code. You would have to remember when you bought it, I would think it's much less likely to be 15 years old unless you specifically remember. Sometimes the design of the box or paint job can give you a better idea since they update them occasionally.

I would say if it's rust free use it either way.
