Fram Cartridge filters?

I'm about to start AutoRx on a 1MZ-FE Toyota engine. I already have some FL-400s filters that I will use. However, I'll probably take advantage of the oil change deals at AutoZone and get either the PYB with Fram Extraguard, or Peak with STP filter. I need filters for my 09 pontiac Vibe-ota, which is a cartridge. Are the fram cartridge filters ok compared to other brands? Or should I see if they will substitute a cheaper filter for the fram, either STP or delco or store brand?

Nope, they will work just fine. They are built prett well. I've used one in my Cav, and it never blew up..

The stigma associated with Fram is limited to their oil filter cans. All other Fram product, including cartridge filters, is okay by me.

Sweet. I'll probably get a few oil changes worth of pennzoil and use it on the 1MZ-FE and get Fram filters for the vibe.

Fram Cartridge filters are very good so are their Extended Guard cans. use with no worries.

I have examined Frams cartridge filter as my Fusion takes those. I haven't used one but they appear to be made as well as all the rest.

Fram cartridge filters are good. I never buy them because they are always $4.00-$5.00 more then the other brands.

I need the oil for the 1MZ-FE. I already have filters for it. I need filters for the Vibe. Ill get the oil change deal but pick filters for the Vibe.

Not a lot of info to add, but some observations and data points.

I've been using cartridge filters on my wife's Rav4 V6 for the past few years and have been picking up different brands along the way. I've used Toyota OE, Purolator, Hastings, and the Fram filters.

For this particular application, I am 100% sure that the Hastings and Fram filters are identical. A very nice, high quality filter. The Toyota OE filter look identical to the Fram but site different countries of manufacture on thier packaging. The filter media looks the same, same number of pleats, but the Toyotas lack the ink stampings found on the Fram/Hasting filters.

And in my case (2AR-FE engine), the Toyota OE cartridge filter is a good $2-3 less than the Fram cartridge filter. I agree that the Fram looks almost identical to the OE Denso...which is why I don't plan to use it (price).

In my case, for my Sonata, the FRAM filter is identical in every way except the colour of the O-ring. both say "Made in Korea". The STP filter is way flimsier, cheaply made, and says "Made in China".

I used these cartridge filters on '00 E430: Mann, Hengst, Mahle, Bosch and Fram. Of these 5 brands, Fram is the worst and more expensive than Hengst and Bosch.

The only good about Fram cartridge oil filter for my E430 is I can buy it at local autopart stores for reasonable price or pay an arm for Mann filter at a MB dealer or else I need to buy other filters online.

For the record I am NOT a fan of FRAM oil filters, but their cartridge filters do seem to be better constructed than their canister filters. Maybe because you can SEE the quality (or lack thereof...

The cartridge filter for my 2.0T is made in Germany. Looks exactly like a Mann, only a cheaper price tag.

I tried the Fram cartridge filter for one of my cars not too long ago; won't use it again. Definitely the poorest quality of the bunch. Go with one of the German filters, Wix, Bosch or K & N (if offered). If you live in a major metro area, the other filter brands are available, you just have to look a little more.
