FRAM 4386 or FRAM 4967?

So I look on FRAM website and they show a FRAM 4386 filter. But champion labs site shows a PH 2840 crossing
To a FRAM 4967. Which is correct oil filter for a 09' Camry with 2.4 engine?

I'm lost on this one as at work we used champ labs ph 2840 on those
camrys

I can't say which one originally came on the 09 Camry, but of the two I'd use the longer 4346. One member (Stig iirc) here said the longer 4386 superseded the 4967 on earlier Toyotas calling for the latter. There is information from other forums with a Google search confirming that.

Obviously the shorter 4967 equivalent will fit too and likely used by many quick lubes in place of the 4386.

If using the 4386 by Fram you would be covered by the filter warranty, if that is a consideration.

They are the same thread but different height/length.
4386 is taller.

I used PH3600 or equivalent for all my Toyotas so far including 2.2L on Camry and 3.3L on Sienna.
3600 is even more taller the 4386 with the same thread.

I use the 4386 (longer one) on my Corolla even though it specs the 4967....why not have an extra bit of filter material....everything else is equal.

I use the 4386 size. 4967 is slightly shorter.

I don't think Champ labs makes the longer size, as the M1 etc are only available in the short 4967 size. I bought a Delco made by Champ thinking it was the longer for the 4 cyl Camry, but it was actually the short one. The 4386 and 4967 are identical except for length.

Use the 4386 if it fits

The Champ line, like many cheap jobber filters primarily designed for shops, is consolidated. That is, they consolidate to the smallest filter of a given thread/gasket diameter. So instead of stocking both the 4386 and 4967, they just use the 4967 for both.

That sounds about right and very likely. I recently replied to another member on the Quick Lube filter dissection thread about what filter he might find ValvolineQLube using on his 09 Camry. Recent pics here show VQL filters now similar to the Walmart Tire and Lube Express (framcore). Basically same as AZ STP filters made by Champ. In the STP retail line up there is no 4386 equivalent, only the shorter 4967. Same thing for metric thread cousin 7317, only have the shorty 6607.

As for the choice, I'd always use the ~.75" longer 4386 or 7317, just me. Same specs but more media area with the longer filters. Perhaps why Toyota chose to supersede the shorty with the 4346. Nissan could/should take a cue on that one. But most aware Nissan owners use the 7317 anyway. My.02
