FP vs MMO

Hmmm...Looks as if it was pulled from the topic list. Possibly due to LCD not offering the promotional special anymore, or no longer being a site sponsor at ClubGP. I know I haven't seen their banner ads in recent times. Couldn't tell ya. I tried to bump it to the top last night, and it's gone completely now.

For whatever reason, people listen when I speak over there. If FP is everything I expect it to be, I'll start a thread about it, and I can almost guarantee it'll help get some more orders from ClubGP'ers.

That's not it...I'm talking about the one in the "sponsor specials" forum. I bumped it to the top last night, and today it's gone from the list completely. If I click on your profile, the link to that thread is still there in your most recent threads, but it's a dead link now.

I'm wondering if Mike N. didn't pull the thread?

Where did the thread go, i saw that you replied, but couldn't click on it

Terry, I do not use MMO in my fuel anymore and have not in a long time. My only point was that some really wild claims are made about Fuel Power! I do not think anyone has a problem with either LC or FP as they both work well. I do think though that the pitch for them is getting a bit silly though.

I use LC and Auto-Rx but do not use FP. I use Lucas UCL and Redline SI-1 to keep my fuel system clean these days. I have also used B-12 with good results in the fuel system in years past.

The no carbon on the exhaust at all just makes my B.S. meter light up!! It is right up their with driveing a GEO metro from one end of California to the other with no oil in the pan and no plug in the pan after trating it with Motor Up, Prolong, Duralube etc........

John,

I apologize for throwing that out there that using LC/FP will totally eliminate carbon (I don't know if I said absolutely completely) but I do apologize. It will reduce it greatly for some and I stand by that as Odis truck is a perfect example. It does also depend on other factors that LC/FP have nothing to do with.

Jeff

I have used FP religiously for about a year now. Carbon still forms in my tailpipe........I know this due to the fact that I replaced the exhaust system on my truck about 2 months ago, and the new one has carbon. But then again......that wasn't the reason I use FP. I will say, that the engine in my truck idles smoother than it did a year ago. I will also say, that the best fuel economy that I have obtained in my camry, (34.9mpg) has been on FP. I have never went over 34 even without FP.

John, reason I asked was that MMO formula has varied over the years and chemists I consult with have said that it is some nasty, very residually toxic stuff.

An experimental aircraft repair business I am aware of has recently changed to LC/FP instead of MMO after years of use.

I am not pushing unsubtantiated claims of LC/FP either. It sure works in the analysis signatures I see.

Speaking of that, John have you posted any analysis results using UCL and Redline S1 or at least observed the analysis results using those products ?

Jeff that was a honest response to the tailpipe comments and questions. Thanks.

JB, I've tried "the rest" and noted little if any improvement. Certainly not worth the cost. Now I know you've spent more time with car stuff than me, but likely not over a longer period of time, and I'm willing to bet heavily, not with less money and greater need.

FP has worked extremely well for me, in FI and in carb'd applications. The carb'd ones were the real beneficiaries as I have to track records to "see" the benefit in FI (outside of reduced throttle movement, but one has to be very sensitive to it, and I doubt -- by observation -- that few do. I have also always been able to meet or beat EPA mpg guidelines on new or well-worn cars. FP just makes that easier).

Now, with those "bona fides" out of the way

:

I know it's just testimonial, again, but the price of a single gallon, used in only one vehicle for maximum time/mileage effectiveness (assuming you are tracking cost-per-mile already)ought to show you satisfaction, yea or nay. Just how much have you spent on RL, and would youhad you to order it by mail?

Good luck

I have used MMO for yrs in the gas tanks of my lawn mowers, etc. I add a little to every tank of gas and when I store them for the winter, I fog the engines by pouring it down the carb. Never had any problems. My Toro 2 stroke actually will run on it. I read the bottle , and it makes no claim about being safe for O2 sensors and cats, so I dont use it in my cars. What do you guys think about MMO?

I poured gallons of MMO in the gas tank over the years in my Mazda and it still passes the very strict emissions test here no problem.
Toss in the other vehicles that I've used it in and the fact it is sold as a gas additive in pint bottles now make me wonder if "cat o2 safe" is even needed.
Is motor oil labelled catalytic and o2 safe? Time to remove the oil injectors.

Terry, I'd love to know what the nasty residual stuff is and how it was formed(the situation)!

I've just talked to some chemist friends of mine and other brands leave a nasty residual pile of crap too. Time to hit all threads with more rumours against all products!

what would happen if i used MMO through the PCV?

would any damage occur?

has anyone done this?

Terry, No I have not. I am working on it though!! To date the two times I have tried to do a used oil analysis on the Camry old man "Murphy" has poped up. One sample disapeared in the postal system. The other had warranty repair to the valve cover gasket and spark plug seals. I am hopeing to be able to post a used oil analysis of the Camry in April. I am currently running M1R and LC in the crank case.I use Lucas UCL about 70% of the time so it should show up in my used oil analysis if it is going too.

I have never had an injector related problem or a carbon problem on anything I have ever owned that was fuel injected. Redline,MMO and B-12 were used as preventive maintence. Many mild fule injector depostits can be cleaned with SI-1. Redlines product does not give any boost to milage though. I have used MMO misted into the carb and air intake on injected vechiles to free stuck valves/sticking valves on new rebuilds. I have used MMO to unstick a lifter a number of times. I have also used it as a mild flush after a little bit of coolant contamination has occured in an engine. I have only used Lucas UCL for about 2 years. I have picked up 1-2 miles per-gallon on every vechile I have used the Lucas UCL in. When ever I stop useing UCL my lillage drops and each time I start useing it again my millage goes up!I will not that Bob's testing of Lucas UCL did look good!

I do not mean to come down on FP. I have no doubts that it works. I am baseing this on all the testimonals and the results of your testing.

I have been completely happy so far with LC. My only problem with these products is the some of the over zelous marketing. The products are good enough at what they do to stand on their merits. I do not think that these products need to constantly find new things to be good at in order to justify their usage. It seems like everytime you turn around their is yet another thing that FP and LC can prevent or undo. In your report you make light of not being able to substainiate some of the claims made by the products.

The fact that they are good at reduceing oxidations, increaseing lubricity, reduceing corrision, disolveing sludge pre-cursors etc... is enough! It has goton so noticeable that one poster even went so far as to say that "LC/FP Is not Jesus Christ in a Bottle"!

Seeing how they are site sponsors and selling a product I hold them to higher standards when it comes to claims about the product. I am preety sure If I said that B-12 Chemtool would prevent carbon from forming on your exhaust tips and up stream therough the entire system it would laughed at rather quickly by all.
