I have found LOTS of valvoline all climate, 5w30 and 10w30 SL formula, in a mom and pops parts store. I was going ot buy some, but a guy htier said, dont get that, he didnt say why. He knew i was a good customer, and siad ot buy his Amilie, pennzoil mobile or castrol SM formulas instead. The bottles of valvoline, did have a notcible amount of dust build up on them. Think the oil in them, is still any good?

I'd buy them if the price were right. Should be more like 1000 ppm zinc and phosphorus where the SM is around 800 ppm. Check the date codes. First character is month (A through L is Jan through Dec). Next two numbers are day of month. Fourth place is the year (single digit).

If the cap seals are still intact, it should be fine. Personally, I think the SL oils had the strongest add-packs to date.

Not a deal. Unless you really have to have the SL additives, but you can get oil cheaper and add some zddp.

Home Depot has Valvoline Maxlife for $2.24 a quart. SM but has about 300 ppm moly too.
