Not that difficult to join . Here's another thread that show's of a YARIS engine teardown due to a slow head gasket leak . www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29511 . Post # 14 shows where the oil leaks from under the exposed head gasket of cylinder #1 ( circled in RED ). You'll notice deposits on top of the piston .

The LAST thing I'm going to do is join a site where I have nothing to do.

Its easier to post the photos out in the open.

Unless the photos are in the open you can stop with the sealed links. They are not helping.

Bill

odie, I use photobucket and it's REALLY easy. Go to Yarisworld, right click and save picture as to your computer. In your photobucket account, upload the images. Once you do that, you can copy a link code to post, picture shows up.

No need to get rude . That's your choice .

I know it's unbelievable that Toyota possible built a vehicle with defective head gaskets, but if it's not leaking that much and it's not mixing coolant in the oil, I'd just leave it be and worry about something else (or try worrying about nothing at all!). The Yaris is still one of the, if not the most reliable car on the road today. There's a medical courier out there with something like 400,000 miles on his and it's still going strong!

A slight oil weep from a gasket isn't unheard of and it's not like it's leaking like a Pratt and Whitney radial aircraft engine. Something like GMs leaking intake gaskets is a much more important thing to be concerned about.

funny how the leak has stopped for the 2008 sedan with the replacement of a new head gasket. We've put over 1,300 miles since the repair. Tells me the leak is not normal. For each their own.

Of course it' not normal, but is it really something to obsess about? Our Olds 88 had a slight oil weep from somewhere around the oil pan/oil filter area since it had about 10,000 miles on it. It now has a rear main seal leak and uses maybe a half quart every 3,000 miles. It has 190,000 miles now. Point being, neither leak has affected the longevity of the vehicle. It sucks knowing there is a leak, but is it really a problem, especially if on yours, it's not even making the oil level on the dipstick drop?

You do as you do , we'll do as we do

. We have nothing more to say , only get grief for being open . THE END .

I love how some people on here are criticizing the OP because he paid his money for a new car and wants the engine to be leak free at low mileage???! What is with that???

Especially since it is a Toyota it should at least meet that standard....

I would complain as well..

You need to send the CEO of Toyota a certified return receipt requested letter..or better yet a certified letter that can ONLY be opened by the CEO.

Sending e mails or regular letters WILL NOT WORK....!

Odie, keep complaining. You paid your hard earned money for that car, it should not have a leaking headgasket!

I don't know how many are leaking but I'd bet it is a substantial number. I agree with you that it isn't acceptable. Any leak in a headgasket especially one that starts so low in milage isn't something I'd just ignore. It's clearly a manufacturing defect and there's no telling how bad it could get if not repaired.

The leak for the new 2010 3 door started around 6,000 miles . The 2008 sedan that bought new less than 10,000 .

Well, why don't we wait until he tries the potentially effective methods of communication before we start slamming Toyota. I'm a Toyota owner today because GM/Buick refused to respond to any of my polite attempts at communications when I was having a serious problem with their product. This is certainly NOT a manufacturer-specific problem.

So, are you implying that Ford is a substandard brand that need not live up to this standard?

OK, I give up, and admit at least a momentary lapse in brain function. I get, by now, that we're talking about a Yaris with a 1NZ engine, but I have not yet figured out what "3 L.B." means in the subject line. I know the Yari are relative lightweights, but I feel safe in assuming that they weigh more than three pounds. So, with hat in hand, and head hung low, I throw in the towel and ask someone to enlighten me. I reeeeeeeally hope this one isn't too obvious.

Meant to say 3 door liftback . Was doing some editing and ran out of time .
