What’s the deal with these “updated” parts from the OEM? Not the first I’ve run into but just another irritation.

Ordered a replacement weatherstripping for the driver side rear door on my F150. New part left a gap of nearly an inch to the factory trim panel. Dealer issued a refund & one of the techs made a comment that it’s a regular occurrence these days. Just can’t believe the crap they’re pushing for crazy prices.

New part vs old:

That is odd? maybe there is a running change and there is a before and after VIN?
I learned that Ford gradually updated the 04-07 Focus with quite a few running change parts, in the front suspension and steering, so I had to use the VIN or at least the next full year that contained the part I needed.

Dealer ran my vin to confirm it was the correct part. It’s just an “updated” their words, part that doesn’t fit
