I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with an Auburn LSD. The Auburn company states to use Ford or GM friction modifier. I was just wondering if anybody knows if one product is better than the other? I have been using the Ford product to date and was thinking of trying the GM stuff.

I'm a ford guy sooooo, well ya know.

I actually use redline diff fluid and additive, but I feel the ford and GM are the same thing

I thought I read somewhere that the GM product is the same as the Dodge stuff. But I have no idea if it is true?

Regardless of what you use, use a little as possible to prevent chatter or diff noise.

Most gear oils already have lsd additive. So, if you just changed the gear oil, research on whatever the gear oil you used has it. You may not need any LSD additive.

Follow Auburn's recomendation of FORD or GM friction modifier additive if your gear oil already does not have the LSD additive.
FORD, GM and MOPAR friction modifiers are all different formulations.

Thanks for the input guys.I know to use as little as possible. 3 oz per quart seems to work best in my unit. That is what the manufacturer recommends. I am using mineral base oil as well. Again that is per manufacuture recommendation. The mineral base oil has no modifer in it. So it must be added.
I posted here to ask "I was wondering if one product is better than the other?"
Anybody have an answer?

This is what I use as well, in an Eaton (carbon fiber clutch pack) Posi, with mineral based gear oil.
And YES, this stuff stinks to high heaven. It even permeates the sealed, tightly capped, new bottle in which it is packaged!
In fact if you ever need to make the ultimate stink-bomb, just mix equal parts of this stuff with some used Magnuson supercharger fluid.
SKUNKS would run and hide from that vile mixture!!
