Its just an ad. He was fed what to say there for his opinion is biased and irrelevant.

I agree ram, I've even heard people talk about how good Chrysler transmissions are now.. Goes to show, you can pay people to say good things about scrap.. You ever ride in a CTD automatic? They feel like CVTs they feel loose and rev a lot for the work they do. They run hot and don't live long under high loads

What ram_man said. For every guy like the one in this ad, you can find a Dodge man and GM man who will say the exact same things about their truck of choice.

Precisely, I have heard people brag about Chrysler transmissions.. I just wonder how much THEY were paid.. Cause the autos behind the CTD ain't nuthen to brag about

There's probably some truth to the statistics, but the interview is merely a reflection of one owner's positive experience. I'm sure you could find just as many positive experiences amongst the competing GM and Chrysler truck owners.

Ads are really only good if they are clever or funny in some way that makes them stand out. This is just typical "BUY A BIG TRUCK, TOW A HOUSE!" blabber.

Dunno-I drive a Ford for work every day, loaded to GVWR at over 8K pounds-and the 4R100 is already not sounding very good-at UNDER 30,000 miles! The 48RE in my '06 CTD, with the pressure regulator recall/update done, actually snaps through shifts just fine, even when not in tow/haul. Not that I wouldn't rather have the Getrag 6-speed manual, though. I snicker every time somebody talks up the F-150 as a work truck-the vast majority of them don't haul much more than the driver, mostly.

And the same can be said for the Ram 1500 with the coil sprung rear suspension ... And the Chevy 1500 ...

99% of trucks (even the 3/4 and 1 ton) are NOT used as a truck.

We have Company trucks that are Ford F-150. I have a 2011 Ford F-150, its a 4x4, single cab long bed. The transmission is horrible, it always feels like its in a gear too high. It jerks about every morning and this truck has the V-6, 3.7, it is gutless. It is suppose to be 300 hp ad it probably is, but it has no torque. You litterally have to drive it like a madman. Even to merge into traffic. Its either off or on. I would not buy one. The 4.6 was much better. Gas milelage is only 16 MPG, so it isnt tha hot. That guy said he bought the eco-boost, so thats not really in the sam e price range as most trucks. Why not just buy the Hemi, the price is so much cheaper and performance is on par. When Ford can sell the eco-boost for what its competitetion is selling trucks for, then they can brag. Thier stock models are garbage. I own a Dodge Ram 2500 with the Hemi, I like it, if I was to Trade up, for the same money, I d buy a Dodge with a Cummins o ver a eco-boost.

Ford makes a good work truck, just not the 5.4. All the guys that run them are always blowing them by 150k or they can't keep plugs in the heads.

Ford right now has a better half ton frame than GM, but I have not seen a 2014 GM truck yet so that might not be the case anymore. They also along with Dodge only use disc brakes, which GM is going to in 2014.

Ford and Dodge have more powerful and what seem like pretty bullet proof base 6 cylinders, which again is changing at GM. While the 4.3 is a good motor it needs 300hp to compete.

The big three tend to be good at some areas and [censored] poor at others.

Car engine ... The 3.7 is a car engine, just like the 3.6 in the dodge. You can't expect a car engine to have the same low end torque as an actual truck engine.

I've heard of the 5.4s lasting forever in moving vans, trucks, etc. Just ... they don't have any power

well maybe some guys have had good luck with them, but I know 4 that blew pretty young.

The problem with them is they blow out spark plugs and something related to the valve train goes and they sound like [censored].

Now that I think about it I don't personally know of one 5.4 that made it to 200k without blowing out a bunch of spark plugs or blowing up.

I work for a courier company, we have a fleet of about 20 vans with 5.4s in them. These are company owned vans that get the [censored] beat out of them every single day by employees that don't care about them at all. (Average of around 300 miles/day) All but maybe a couple of our newest vans have well over 200K miles, and some of them are over 400K. In the time I've worked there, we've probably racked up over 10 million miles on 5.4s, and not one engine failure, EVER.

The 4.2L V6 on the other hand is complete garbage. We've had a few of those over the last few years and every single one has needed replacement. Probably fine for a typical daily driver, but they sure can't take the abuse of being in a courier vehicle.

The 3.7 is a car engine. It would be Great in a Mustang. It sounds Great when you need to floor it. No torque. It is a terrible truck engine choice, but its what they went with. Bad choice.
