Ford Escape oil recommendation

I may be doing an oil change for someone tomorrow on a 2016 or 2017 Ford Escape with one of the Ecoboost engines. From what I can tell these take a 5w30, correct? Probably will recommend the owner to pick up some Motorcraft for it just to make it easier for them to pick out an oil. Anybody have a favorite for this application? Looks like a 5.7 qt capacity, correct? Just trying to make sure they bring enough oil. I'm a GM boy and haven't serviced many Fords

Use Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft oil filter and mark the date and mileage changed on the receipt along with the VIN #.
I wouldn't tell people your a GM boy, sounds dumb.

The 1.5 and 1.6 liter EcoBoosts spec 5w-20. The 2.0 liter versions spec 5w30. Capacity will differ as well. MotorCraft is a fine choice but Ford's specs are such that virtually any SN 5w-20 or 5w30 will do

Ford EcoBoost is performing very well on Castrol Magnatec 5W30 semi-synthetic. Check out the used oil analysis section, some EcoBoost engines are knocking on the door of 1ppm Iron per 1k miles. Plus the Magnatec shows good viscosity retention, and enough TBN for 9k mile OCI (max OCI IMO).

Edit to say, I'm mostly talking about the 3.5L V6 twin-turbo here

But I would try the other appropriate Magnatec grades in their other EcoBoost engines.

What engine? 1.6 and 2.5 take 5w20 and the 2.0 takes 5w30. 2.0 and 2.5 take 5.7 quarts and the 1.6 and the 1.5 takes 4.3 quarts.

Do Ford specs always require an A1B1 or it's optional ?

I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 in my wifes 2017 Escape 2.0 Turbo. I am very happy with it so far.

Turbo - use synthetic, even if it's SuperTech. Follow the OLM and keep it topped off.
