Football player to the rescue...but

This is on FB...the video is pretty clear.

Video begins with bully punching blind kid...who has his hands up for defense only. No ability to strike back.

Football player takes out bully with one punch. Bully goes down, hard. Blood on his face. Moaning on the ground.

Videographer zooms in on bully while shouting takes place, "why do you hit him!" "Dude, he was picking on a blind kid!"

What disgusts me is how long the assault by the bully lasted before any one of the bystanders did anything. They're content to watch someone be assaulted. And content to simply video instead of act...

People are likely criticizing the football player for using too much force.

Whatever. Self defense includes defense of others. Actions for your defense, including defense of others, must be necessary and proportional.

His actions were necessary - the bully wasn't stopping his assault. His actions were proportional - the bully was punching, the football player punched.

Like most bullies, he's only tough when he's picking on someone significantly weaker than himself... Willing to act, only when there is no risk to himself...

This is political correctness at it's worst. It's a mental disease and it's getting more entrenched in our society. By the way, does anyone know the first person to utter the words "politically correct? Leon Trotsky.

Back when people's heads weren't so far up their rear ends, they'd condone the behavior which is justifiable. Bullies only learn not to bully by tasting their own medicine via moral use of force. Period.

Yes, it is. A first-class personality/mental disorder. And it's led to wimps standing by, taking videos, instead of action, to protect the weaker kid.

You might be interested in what Horowitz writes about Trotsky. He's all over him, inside & out.

The football player took the right action to deal with this bully, by turning his own guns around and firing back: Only MUCH harder. I hope he at least broke his nose. That way he'll be reminded of the lesson every time he looks in the mirror.

I agree 10000%

Sad that other students did not stop the bully before football player acted.

Yep; and the assertion that he used too much force? Nope. If he'd continued to punch the bully after he was on the ground, THAT would have been excessive. But one, to stop it, especially after the amount of time it went on? Completely justified.

I agree- good show. He had all the chance in the world and didn't take it. Good on him.
