Focus overheating today

From factory as well. For 200K miles the rad on the outside looks pretty good though surprisingly.
Replace it.

I had an old Euro car that also had it's factory rad. After countless thermostats, water pumps and flushes it still ran slightly too warm.
After a rad replacement it ran as cool as it did when new.

Let the guy do the thermostats first. Radiators can last a long time these days with long life coolants. No need to replace the radiator until everything else is narrowed out.

Weird part there, glad you figured out what it was. My Escorts had nothing like it. At least all the parts that you need should be pretty cheap.

I would test any old thermostats by boiling them in water to see how well the open.

So I replaced just he primary thermostat and it looks like the issue is fixed. Thanks everybody for the replies. Funny thing is I ordered a thermostat housing, gasket, and sensor but I didn't realize the thermostat housing already came with the sensor and gasket (and is cheaper than buying the sensor by itself!) so now I got extras :).
