Hi folks,

You've always been able to answer my questions so I'm hoping to get some good input on my question. I know there have been many threads on the issue, but couldn't seem to get a concrete answer on the subject.

At first I looked at the Mityvac and my research led me to find that the 7201 is generally favored over the 7400, for its larger capacity and dispense feature. However, there have been folks posting about how their unit came brand new with missing gaskets, or were incompatible with synthetic, ultimately causing a leak.

Was this a problem, and has it been rectified with newer units?

I also saw the Pela 6000 which seemed very convenient because of the easy pour capability. The price was relatively decent in comparison to some of the other extractors, but some Pela owners really liked this extractor and others wished they'd gotten the Mityvac.

I've seen the green Liquivac mentioned in a few threads, but it doesn't seem to have as big of a userbase as the others.

Also looked into marine extractors, namely the Moeller 035330, which also seemed to have very high reviews in the places I looked.

I don't foresee myself doing brake bleeding with the extractor, mainly just oil, trans, power steering, and potentially coolant.

Thanks in advance!

Liquivac green for sure. I've used a bunch of different ones and this one has lasted the longest and done the best.

After the seals on my Mityvac 7400 failed and were not replaceable, I bought a Pela 14K. It's been good so far and I love the large capacity and easy pour out spout.

I have the MV 7201 and it did come with a broken bracket and Amazon sent me a new one (entire thing) at no cost. MityVac customer service basically said they do not deal with the general public (me).

I cannot see using the MV 7201 for dispensing new fluid unless you dedicate one for that. Cleaning it to the level I would want before using it for ATF or oil would be a real pain. Its no big deal for me to pour new stuff from a gallon jug via funnel. The used funnel then goes in the dishwasher, so its always pristine.

My main use for the MV 7201 will be to extract ATF (from the pan) before a cooler line flush and possibly to drain oil from my boat engine.

I have Mityvac 7201 since 2002. My BIL and I used it to do oil change, ATF, PSF, brake bleeding. He likes it so much after using it for about 6 years, he bought one for himself about 4 years ago.

This fluid extractor is so easy to do oil change in a Mercedes and previous BMW engines. It also is easy to do brake bleeding too. No other tool I tried can bleed the brake so easy and so fast.

The price is a little high now at around $90+ at Amazon. I paid around $55-60 in 2002. Even at $90 it is the best value tool that can do so many things.

The myth "incompatible with synthetic" is purely bunk. My BIL and I used it to change oil in his BMW, MB and my E430. All these cars use synthetic oil only, all no leak as long as I tighten the 6 screws on top of the container once in a year or two.

The dispense feature of the 7201 is very convenience too, just switch the control from extraction to dispense, then after few pump the old fluid is in the disposal jug ready for recycling. No need to pour and making a mess. This is one of the reason I think 7201 is better than 7400.
