I have a 2006 Mustang GT with 45000 miles, I have always changed the transmission fluid every 10000 miles with Redline D4 ATF. I was wondering if there are any other better alternatives to Redline ATF D4, I have never had a problem with this lubricant. I was thinking of using something thickner from Redline, I plan on keeping this car for a long time. I was just keeping the ATF in until the factory warranty was out.

The engineer at Tremec I talked to a while back said their manual transmissions are spec`d specifically for ATF. In my opinion they make the absolute best manual transmissions. The Z31`s had Tremec T-5`s and those things were indestructible! Too bad Nissan didn`t put the T-5 the Z32`s. If I were you I`d just keep on using synthetic ATF.
You could stick with D4. It already is an upgrade to the cheap mineral dex/merc ATF that the transmission is spec'd for.
Redlines hightemp or racing ATFs, and the MTL are other options.
You should UOA your 10k fluid. If it looks good, no need to go thicker. If there is a ton of wear, regardless of what is spec'd, consider an upgrade. A little film thickness does much to protect a gearbox.
Your Ga location will also be a little more immune to an MTF/MTL that is only ~3 CST thicker then ATF. Several cst thicker could be annoying in Alaska.

D4 ATF is good stuff - have it in my '97 GT that's got the totally lousy Borg-Warner T45. (I say that as I've got this odd 5th gear synchro issue that comes and goes, causing me to grind going into 5th about every 100 shifts into 5th.)
I put it in at 7,000 miles and now have about 40,000. It's not a daily driver, but fair-weather toy and sees more than its fair share of abuse. It's a Mustang, it's designed to go fast and furious...
