Why does someone in Florida use winter mats?
Yes … hard material … deep … Have Weathertech in the Fusion - black interiorAre they similar to WeatherTech? I thought about getting some but they look too rugged for a sedan. In an SUV or truck they wouldn't bother me.
I use rubber "Monster" mats year round in North Carolina because they're easier to clean. Why does someone in Florida use winter mats?
They aren't winter mats, they are an OEM all weather mat factory option. The car also comes with carpet mats as well. The carpet mats are not nearly as easy to clean up and collect dirt more easily. No reason to use them on a regular basis with the Monster Mats are an option. Why does someone in Florida use winter mats?
Yeah pretty much any mess can be cleaned, but I'm a bit particular myself. Drinks for adults are fine in a closed container, granddaughter has a true no-spill cup, etc. Some question that, but oh well... that's why my ride is over 7 yrs old and looks pretty much brand new. If anyone riding with me has any real complaints they are welcome to walk instead. I have seen very worst case scenarios though. A family member did babysit for a couple that have a rather good income, combined $250K and they have a few 'could be nice' vehicles. One was a Volvo SUV (since traded) and the thing was so disgusting from food/drink being left in it for months-years there were different forms of life embedded under the floor mats. As in molded items, maggots at one point, that sort of thing. Of course we all have a different take on priority/maintenance, but having a compost pile in your vehicle is a bit much!I just wash the mats when I wash the wheels. Quick pressure washer rinse, maybe a scrub with a flag tip brush.
We eat, drink, color, play with Lego, etc in our cars and they still look great. I have chosen to teach my children to respect their environment rather than not use it. A spilled snack vacuums up. Water can be soaked up with a towel. Toys can be picked up.
Life can get messy but messes can be cleaned.
Very nice work. Do you spray and rubber protectant on these? 303 or Carpro Perl Would help them look new forever and maybe make cleaning a bit easier.I have always brushed the rubber oem “Monster Mats” in our VW’s to clean them but that always left behind a dusty film. I started washing the floor mats weekly and am much happier with the results. Soap and warm water in the bath tub followed by a gentle scrub then laid out to dry with the dehumidifier on. Makes them look brand new every time.
No, these floor mats have a lot of grooves and recessed areas. I feel I wouldn't get even coverage. It likely would look splotchy as the end result. Maybe I can try in the future.Very nice work. There is a quicker way to accomplish what you are doing. Use the leftover car wash soap with a tire/wheel brush. Pour the leftover soap over the mats, scrub, then rinse off. Better yet, pressure wash off. Dry with compressed air or whatever device you use to blow water out of the crevices.
BTW, for a car as small as a Jetta, you should be able to do a quality weekly/bi-weekly wash in well under 90 minutes. We should all be getting faster/more efficient as time goes on. Based on my experience, if it is taking you 90 minutes to do what you describe, there is probably opportunity for improvement in your technique.
Dang, everyone giving you a hard time and all. I do my weather tech mats a couple times a year, good enough for meI have always brushed the rubber oem “Monster Mats” in our VW’s to clean them but that always left behind a dusty film. Winter mats? I live in Arizona where it doesn’t even rain, and I have Weather Techs in my Genesis. Why does someone in Florida use winter mats?
