floor jack question

I'm having a hard time jacking up my cars with the standard floor jack cause its bending the rails cause it doesn't fit right.
Does anyone know where i can find a adaptor piece for the floor jack that will fit in the groove corectly so i don't bend or ruin that rail thing thats meant for jacking?

How about taking a 4" length of 2 x 4 and cutting a slit in the middle of it to fit the rail?

hmm, that might work. I mean its not on there for long just to jack it up then put the jackstands under it.

I would cut the slit "against the grain", not "with the grain". Just a thought

trey, I had the same thing happen on my car (96 Subaru), really bent the rail thing bad. Now I usually just jack the whole front end or whole rear end up at the manufacturer designated front and rear jacking points which keeps me away from the rails.

If I have to jack just one side by the rail I've been using a piece of wood along the bottom about 1/2" thick in front of the rail to prevent mashing the rail. Probably not the best idea because it doesn't keep the vehicle from slipping.

I was thinking of making or having made an 'adaptor' out of maybe a 3"x3" heavy gauge steel tubing maybe a couple inches long with a slit in to fit the rail.

yeah, might try the wood idea but i know they sell the right tip to fit the side rails i just haven't found it yet.
