Flies and bleach, whoda known

We have a good number of flies that come into the teacher's room because of the temp difference. I started killing them and collecting the bodies in a little glass bottle. After a week, the bottle started to smell when I opened the lid. I cleaned it out, and put some bleach in it to keep the smell down. I did it on a Friday, and but a few in it that evening. Come Monday, the bodies were gone. It made no sense. I thought someone had stole them. I put some more bodies in that day, and by the next morning, only half of a bee was left.

I was surprised that bleach was that strong. Anyway, just wanted to share.

They're still there, but you can't see them because all the color has been bleached out of them.

*Side note
My buddy(16 at the time) took a dead mouse he got from a trap in his house and put it in a bucket of bleach.

the next day all the hair was missing. Just a naked mouse.

We've got a mechanical fly trap, as well as my carnivorous plants.

I add some compost starter to the trap, and the bodies go away.

As to used oil, you should see the oily moth collections at work.

I've seen fuel oil pumps on fire, and two turbine fires due to moth/oil cakes blocking drains, and providing a wick effect.

You don't have enough web sites if you've got flying bug problems. Allow our spider friends a place to throw up an aerial fish net ..and you'll have less problems. I have a great respect for spiders. Just like the Gungan and humanoid population on Naboo. I mean ..they were not partying buddies ..but they managed to stay out of each others way and prosper.

Spiders get a free ride in my place.

One lives in one of my carnivorous plants. Redbacks (our black widow) only get shunted when they are in the way of development. Whitetail lived a great life in the bathroom until the globe blew, and he needed to go.

Funnelwebs are killed without question.

Barn swallows do a good job of mopping up flies. I'm not sure if there are birds like that in Japanese cities, though. It's probably mostly scavenger types.
